1933 immigrated to Israel. 1936-1942 studied landscape architecture with Yehiel Segel and became his partner. Yahalom is known as one of Israel’s first landscape architects. Dan Zur. Israel 1926 1940-1943 studied painting and art at the Avni Institute in Tel-Aviv. 1943-1945 studied agriculture and gardening at Mikve Yisrael, Israel. 1953-1992 established an architecture practice in partnership with Lippa Yahalom. Scopus campuses of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Nahal Sorek Institute; medical centers and hospitals including Beilinson hospital, Hadassah Medical Center and the Tel Hashomer hospital (old and new); national parks including Beit Shearim, Gan HaShelosha, Mekorot Hayarkon, parts of the wall of the Old City of Jerusalem, Nahal Alexander, Ein Ovdat, and Ben-Gurion’s Tomb; public gardens including Sacher Park, Independence Park and Wolfson Park, Jerusalem; public buildings and educational institutions including Beit Halochem, Tel Aviv, and Yad LaBanim, Jerusalem; commercial centers and shopping malls including the Malha mall in Jerusalem and the Aviv mall in Tel Aviv; residential neighborhoods including Ramat Aviv, Tel Aviv; Ramat Eshkol and Gilo, Jerusalem; and neighborhoods in Kiryat Ono, Kiryat Gat, Givat Tal and Rosh Ha’ayin; memorials and commemorative sites including the viewing points at the Hebrew University Campus on Mt. Prizes and competitions: 1971 Karavan Prize for Landscape Architecture for the planning of Sacher Park, Jerusalem. 1979 First Prize in the Competition for the memorial for the Jewish Communities, at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem. 1987 First Prize in the competition for the design of Ben-Gurion’s Tomb. 1991 First Prize in the competition for the design of Ma’ale Hamazok at Ein Ovdat. 1992 First Prize in the competition for the planning of Central Park, Herzliya. 1998 Israel Prize for Architecture. 2004 Second place bid in the Hiriya Landfill Tel Aviv Detailed Landscape Design Competition. |
