Arieh El-Hanani, Ukraine1898– 1958 Israel. 1913-1917 studied at the School of Art and Architecture, Kiev. 1922 immigrated to Israel, lived in Jerusalem. 1937 established an independent practice. Selected works: 1934 The ‘Hebrew Worker’ sculpture; ‘The Flying Camel’ emblem for the Oriental Fair, Tel Aviv. 1939 designed the Jewish Palestinian Pavilion for the World Fair, New York. He later worked as a stage designer, typographer and graphic designer; designed logos for the Palmach and the IDF; The ceremonial plaza outside the Knesset, Bar-Ilan University and Beit Eliyahu. Honorary Citizen of Tel Aviv. 1984 American Institute of Architects’ Dedalo Minosse International Prize. |
